In 2011, I was contacted by a couple who had purchased an old home in the Doylestown area, and they were looking to update the kitchen with a complete redesign. The area was cramped, with a large divider separating the kitchen and the sitting area. They wanted to make a large open space that would allow them to entertain guests.
After learning exactly what the client was looking for, we developed a design plan. The main purpose of the design update was to make room for the new appliances, and create an island that would add space to the nearby sitting room.
We removed the divider between the two rooms, and built an island that would open the area without sacrificing counter and cabinet space. We created custom cabinetry for the island and the main kitchen areas, which was sized to accommodate the brand new appliances. We installed new lighting units, tiling on the walls and floor, and a granite counter top, all of which provided a fresh update to the existing space; the client was very pleased with the outcome of the redesign.
